Know Your Sleep Stats

In today’s age of work hard, play hard and then work some more, being sleep deprived is often worn as a badge of honor.

But considering that lack of sleep can affect everything from your health and social relationships to, yes, your work performance, it’s good to be educated on all aspects of sleep.



The highest temperature your room should be for sleeping. Most experts agree the ideal temperature for sleeping is between 54 and 75 degrees. Also, make sure your sleep environment is dark and quiet.

The costs related to workplace errors due to insomnia. Insomnia is believed to cause about 274,000 workplace errors and accidents a year equaling costs up to $31B/ year.

20 minutes

If you haven’t fallen back asleep after 20 minutes — get out of bed and do a quiet activity, such as listening to relaxing music or reading a book, until you are sleepy.



Percentage of people surveyed by the National Sleep Foundation said they watched TV within an hour of going to bed at least a couple of nights a week or more. Watching TV and working on the computer too close to bedtime can keep you up. Establish a relaxing routine to wind down before going to bed that doesn’t include screen time.
